Pregnancy and the postpartum period are transformative phases in a woman’s life, and yoga has the incredible potential to nurture and support this journey. Yoga during pregnancy helps to prepare the body for labor and childbirth and can be used for pain management, improves sleep and helps to balance energy.
Through this course, we aim to equip you with a deep understanding of the physiological, mental and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy and after childbirth. You will learn how to adapt traditional yoga practices to cater specifically to the unique needs and challenges faced by expectant mothers and new mothers.
Our 100 h pre and postnatal Yoga training is embedded in the YACEP program of Yoga Alliance and you can add the 100 hours of this course to your continuous education hours.
At Anandam Yoga School, Yoga is more than a certification. It is a way of living, learning and connecting. As a family-run school led by Sandeep Atri from India and Dr. Katharina Austermann from Germany, we combine traditional yogic wisdom with a modern scientific understanding of the body and mind.
We believe that good teachers do not need to be perfect. They need authenticity, knowledge, compassion and the confidence to teach from their own experience. That is why we deliberately keep our groups small, creating a safe and supportive environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, grow and simply be themselves.
Our Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training is designed for teachers, practitioners and mothers who wish to support women through pregnancy and postpartum with greater care, understanding and presence. We place special emphasis on the often-overlooked postpartum phase, recognizing that recovery and hormonal changes continue far beyond the first weeks after birth and require long-term, compassionate support.
This 100 hours pre and postnatal Yoga training program is designed to provide you with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to guide women through safe and effective pre and postnatal yoga practices. Our holistic approach includes asanas, breathing techniques and pranayama, meditation, and mindfulness techniques, all tailored to promote physical strength, mental clarity, and emotional well-being during these transitional phases.
In our Pre and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training, we dedicate a segment to understanding and adapting yoga practices for each trimester, honoring the unique changes occurring at every stage of pregnancy. We’ll practice daily yoga classes tailored to the needs of each trimester, allowing trainees to experience first-hand the adaptative practices suited for the different stages of pregnancy. Each session is thoughtfully designed to align with the physical, mental, and emotional shifts that occur throughout pregnancy.
Asanas, or yoga postures, are a cornerstone of our Pre and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training. During pregnancy, we emphasize gentle yet effective asanas such as modified sun salutations, squats, pelvic tilts, and cat-cow stretches to alleviate lower back pain, enhance pelvic floor strength and flexibility, and encourage optimal fetal positioning. In the postpartum phase, asanas like pelvic floor exercises, modified plank poses, and restorative poses with props aid in the gradual restoration of core strength and pelvic stability.
In the asana alignment classes of our pre and postnatal yoga course you will learn how to adapt the Yoga postures for the different stages of pregnancy and postpartum, there postural alignment and the effective use of props. We also speak about benefits, cautions and contraindications.
In the Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Fundamentals classes, we explore how Yoga can support women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum recovery in a safe and meaningful way. You will learn practical guidelines, supportive practices and important considerations for both pregnancy and the often-overlooked postnatal phase, helping you confidently support mothers through the physical, emotional and hormonal changes of this transition.
Throughout pregnancy, mindful breathing techniques provide a valuable tool for expectant mothers to increase oxygen supply, improve circulation and detoxification, reduce stress and manage anxiety. You will learn different breathing techniques for the various stages of pregnancy, labor and childbirth, as well as postpartum breathing and pranayama practices that can support physical recovery, emotional wellbeing and the restoration of pelvic floor strength and reactivity.
Positive thinking, loving kindness and body awareness are essential during pregnancy and after giving birth. Meditation is a powerful tool to allow for positive thoughts and we are covering several guided mediation techniques that you can use during your pre and postnatal Yoga classes, including breathing awareness, loving kindness meditation, mantra chanting, visualization and body scans.

Being a Yoga teacher is more than showing poses. It’s about guiding others with compassion on their journey to a better life.
What you eat your body becomes same! What you think your mind becomes same! So eat healthy and think positive!
You are not in control what happens around you, but you are always in control of what happens within you.

Our students are at the heart of everything we do. We are deeply grateful for the trust, openness and shared experiences that grow through our trainings and we are happy to share some reflections from students who became part of our Anandam community.
